How Rootsy uses your email and data

Rootsy collects and stores information you choose to add so you can track your dog's meals, symptoms, medication, environmental exposures, and related notes over time.

We also collect your email address for account access and, if you opt in, to send Rootsy updates, launch news, and occasional dog health and nutrition content related to Rootsy.

To help fund the free app, we may occasionally share updates from trusted partners or sponsors. We do not sell your personal information.

If you use Rootsy, the information you may choose to store can include dog profile details, food and ingredient data, symptom logs, medication logs, environmental exposure logs, and optional Vet contact details such as clinic name, Vet contact name, and Vet email address.

Vet contact details are optional and are only stored so you can keep them with your dog's profile and use features such as opening a prefilled email from your own device. At present, Rootsy does not automatically send reports directly to your Vet on your behalf.

When you use the report-sharing tools, Rootsy can generate a downloadable report from the information in your tracker. If you choose the email option, Rootsy opens a prefilled email on your device using the Vet details you added, but you remain in control of whether that email is sent and whether the downloaded report is attached.

If you use the optional read-only shared link feature, Rootsy creates a de-identified shared Insights and Timeline view for a single dog. This shared view does not include owner details, and you can choose whether to include a small dog summary such as breed, sex, age or date of birth, weight, background, and neutered status to help identify the correct profile. Anyone with the shared link can view that read-only page until you turn sharing off or create a new link. Rootsy can also open a prefilled email on your own device containing that link, but you remain in control of whether it is sent.

We use service providers to help operate Rootsy, including hosting, authentication, and data storage. These providers only process data on our instructions to support the service.

We may use anonymised or aggregated data about dogs, symptoms, ingredients, and patterns to improve Rootsy and support research or product development over time.

You can stop receiving marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in those emails, and you can ask us to help with account or data questions using the contact address below.
